Saving up for Audrey
I've been thinking a lot about Audrey's bright future and what I would like to provide for her. My interest has always been in giving her the most life can offer...opportunities that I might not have been able to receive. It's never too late to start saving up for things for your child. She isnt even born yet and im already thinking about how im gonna pay for her college years and if something were to ever happen she could have money set aside for her. This little piggy bank I found for her is just a start. Its put forth a lot of different ideas and ways of saving I have for her. As a starter, she can keep her OWN savings of coins in her little pink piggy bank...and mommy already has it filled a little ;] That is something fun for her to do, as well as for her to learn the importance of saving and having money. Me, on the other hand, thats a different story. I've never saved my money. Didnt really have reasons to.....and I have spending problems. Whenever I have money I need to spend it right away. Right now my savings= $0, my checking act= $0. I always have money in my wallet but I cant just keep it saved in my accounts. I guess I never had reasons to save as my parents never really pushed me to do so. I live very comfortably, no bills to worry about and any income I make or bring in is all for whatever I feel like spending it on. Must be nice, right? Im not gonna let Audrey fall into the same routine. She can save on her own, and im gonna put money aside to save for her as well. From every paycheck im gonna set aside $50 in a separate account for her, and I also want to get her a savings bond like my mother did for me as a child. Over time, the amount will accumulate through interest. Its something great to have for your child, trust me. Being a first generation college graduate, I have set the way for my future family; children, their children, etc. Im proud to have started that and ill be damned if money or other ridiculous circumstances come in the way of my children having a bright future. Audrey's savings start TODAY! She'll thank me later ;]
