I am so happy that today was my last day of work! I must admit, i worked up until my 8th month and im very pleased with myself. Throughout my whole pregnancy ive been strong, and what helped was the overwhelming support of family, coworkers and friends. I was working 5 days a week for 6 hours a day and it helped keep me active. Its vital to stay in shape because it makes labor easier. I was constantly walking and on my feet. Trust me, you need to work those muscles because the last thing you need to be is WEAK during delivery because all you did was sit around your whole pregnancy. As a plus ive only gained weight in my belly, not all around and i contribute that to staying active, walking and lifting light things and climbing stairs lol. Your pregnancy is what YOU make it. It can be the best experience in the world or it could be the hardest thing you've ever dealt with. One thing i had to tell myself was that i was not superwoman...i couldnt do everything! Its okay to ask for help! If you are working throughout your pregnancy be sure to let others know of your limitations as months go by.
Dont do a lot of bending, if you need to bend do so at the knees.
Dont lift heavy objects, you know its too heavy when you feel it in your lower pelvic area.
Dont stand in place for a long time, it makes you dizzy and face it, with all that weight you're carrying you cant stand for a long time without getting tired.
Dont wear heels if your gonna be on your feet working all day. Yeah theyre super cute, but with your feet swelling as the day goes by and the lack of good support your gonna be hurting! Save the heels for quick outings
Dont over-do yourself. Once you hit that phase where you start to waddle you'll realize your not as fast and quick on your feet as you used to be. Take it easy.
Those are just a couple things i can think of. Being on maternity leave now i still need to make sure im keeping myself active. Walks around the neighborhood, light yoga, a little bit of swimming are all things on my list to do. We'll see if mny hard work pays off ;]
